Hi there, I'm stylist, Natalie Ogura, and we're finding ways to incorporate velvet blazers into your everyday wardrobe. Velvet is an item that a lot of people avoid because it's flashier than your more conventional fabrics. Velvet also has a slightly masculine quality to it that most women shy away from and that's really too bad because a velvet blazer is such a great addition to your Fall wardrobe. Instead of stepping back from velvet, you should really try to embrace its inherent qualities. Our model, Ellie, is wearing a navy velvet blazer from Saks. The dark shade is really easy to match and the velvety texture adds a cozy feel to the overall outfit. This blazer is also well tailored, hugging Ellie at the waist creating very feminine lines. To add even more feminine appeal, we've added a mauve silk camisole and light blue jeans all from Saks Fifth Avenue. The contrast of the silk camisole really tones down the heaviness of the velvet creating a very balanced look. To finish, we have an elegant burnt orange necklace by Marianne Homsy. Now if you want to go for a little bit more drama, opt for a more colorful velvet blazer. Fall tones like burnt orange or mustard yellow are great options. Just make sure to play down the color palette of the rest of your outfit.
