Hi, I'm Erin, and I'm a fashion stylist. When many people think of high waisted jeans, they think old mom jeans. Or, they visualize that horrible Jessica Simpson concert photo. But when worn correctly, high waisted jeans can be tr?s chic. Our model, Heather can show you what I mean. She's wearing a high waisted flare jean, these are by Seven Jeans. The waist comes up to about her belly button. They are fitted through the thighs and flare out at the bottom. I think, this is the most flattering high waist jean option. Be aware, the skinny jean version, I would only recommend those for slim, straight figures. With a high waisted jean, you really want to make a feature of the waist. That's easily accomplished by wearing a thin waist belt, like this leather braided belt by J. Crew. We want to balance the flare in the jean, by wearing a fitted top. Heather is wearing a pattern silk shell from Urban Outfitters. The print brings attention to her upper body and again, provides balance. Heather has the option of wearing the shell alone, or with the blazer. The blazer is helpful, if you want to cover your arms, or need a light jacket for warmth. On here feet, she's sporting a pair of great gold booties. I finished off the look with some tribal earrings and a gold bangle. So, you see, nothing about this look screams, dowdy mom jean. Just one last tip, if you are top heavy or heavy in general, you should probably avoid high waisted jeans. Try a medium or low-rise boot cut jean instead.
