Hi, I'm Erin, and I'm a fashion stylist. When posed with the question how do I wear four inch heels my immediate thought is how do I not wear four inch heels, they can be so sexy, sophisticated and elongating. That said it has to be the right pair and you have to be able to walk in them. Our model, Heather is wearing a traditional four inch heel. This one is a python pair by Yves Saint Laurent. What makes this heel a little easier to manage is the strap around the ankle. That strap provides stability and support which is key when wearing a heel this high especially if you're not used to it. If a traditional four incher is just out of the question for you, you could always try a wedge. The wedge is ideal for a heel newcomer who really wants height but doesn't want the difficulty. A wedge when it fits your arch properly can be surprisingly comfortable especially when it's a platform wedge. A platform is that thick sole under the ball of your foot. It can help you walk in a higher heel or wedge, for example, if your overall wedge height is four inches and your platform, that part under the front of your foot is an inch high then it's like you're walking on three inches instead of four. Did you follow that? Basically the platform is a good thing and it helps you handle the heels. Wedges also tend to be more casual than heels so they are really versatile. If you can find a fab pair that fits your foot well, scoop them up. If you are still uncomfortable walking in your heels, it never hurts to practice and I'm here to tell you it's worth it. There's nothing quite like walking around in four inch heels. It's empowering, sexy and fun once you master it.
