Hi, I'm Erin and I'm a fashion stylist. I think no matter what industry you work in, if you want to be taken seriously you have to look the part. If I showed up here with a scraggly hairdo, no makeup wearing a seventies polyester pantsuit, would you believe what I have to say? Probably not. Okay. So, with that in mind, let's talk about what you should wear to your upcoming business meeting. The safest most foolproof option is the black pant suit. Our model Brittany is wearing a stylish and sophisticated suit by Ellie Tahari. I love a skirt and blazer too, but skirts don't work on every body type. You also have to worry about stockings versus no stockings. It's just not as simple as the pantsuit. There are several things to consider when picking out your suit. First, I would try to find a blazer that is classic, so you can wear it for many years to come. Look for pants that fit you well but are not too tight. A pleat free straight leg trouser is a good way to go. And don't be afraid to buy separates. You don't always have to buy a suit. Also don't agonize about what to wear under the suit. A silk tank or shell is fine. Our model has on a Kelly green tank by Theory. When in doubt, you can always wear a white button down shirt. As far as shoes, I put our model in some closed toe kitten heels. I think this shoe keeps her looking long and lean. They are also classic and comfortable and will wearable for many years to come. You should keep your accessories simple. Try a pretty understated and elegant necklace and earrings, just like our model's. If you have on a giant cocktail ring, it might distract from what you are saying, especially if you use your hands a lot to talk. The same is true with an armful of bangles. Again, just keep your jewelry minimal. What you can wear can have a tremendous impact on your credibility and how you're perceived. Make sure you dress for success.
