Hi, I'm Seane Marie, and I'm a fashion stylist. Brown can sometimes be a dull color by nature. Thus, when trying to create an outfit with brown separates, you can combat this problem by adding pieces that will brighten up the rest of your look. An easy way to do this is by pairing your brown pieces with other colors that attract more light, like pastels or brights. Today, Amber is wearing a gorgeous maxi skirt in a brown palette. I love this piece, because its soft fabric and dramatic length lend some ladylike qualities to a more serious color tone. On top, I've tucked in this pretty cream blouse. The ruffle details and cutout shoulders add a feminine touch, cohesive with the skirt. Also, the light, subtle color of the blouse brighten up the look, which could otherwise be a little drab. However, as brown can come in many varying shades, not all browns will work with this cream. The reason it works here is because both the brown in the skirt and the beige of the blouse share red undertones. So, keep that in mind when deciding on which colors will work with your brown skirt. Finally, I finished this look with a pretty cocktail ring, and a pair of flat gladiator sandals for a feminine and put-together look.
