Hi, I'm Erin and I'm a fashion stylist. Black dress pants are a woman's best friend. They are slimming and universally flattering. Not to mention versatile. Black dress pants goes with so many things in your closet. Our model Heather is wearing one outfit you can consider with your black trousers. She has on black dress pants by Alice and Olivia. Alice and Olivia makes a terrific modern wide leg black dress trousers. You can also try a store like Ann Taylor that specializes in women's suiting and carries different cuts for different body types. I put Heather in an elegant simple black and cream blouse with a black cami underneath. This blouse maybe simple but it's far from boring. This sixties inspired by Peter Pan collar definitely add femininity and style. Other options to consider with your black pants a beautiful sleeveless or short sleeve blouse. You can also try a cardigan or blazer over your blouse. That is a sophisticate office appropriate look and it's a great alternative to a traditional suit. Most colors will work with black including chocolate brown and blue which many people think are no, no's. The colors I would void are orange and yellow. Orange and black screams Halloween to me while bright yellow and black says bumblebee neither which are very good look. I finished off Heather's outfit with some adorable patten flats. Heather is already pretty tall so she doesn't really need heels. If you're petite like me, a close toe pump or wedge is better. The close toe shoe in the same color as the pants will keep you looking taller and longer. Notice only a slither of Heather's shoes is peeking out from under her pants. That is how your should look too. If they are too short even with flats, I would donate the pants. If they are too long, simply have them hem.
