Hi, I'm Seane Marie, and I'm a fashion stylist. Hats are excellent accessories to add interest and style to any outfit but it's important when you choose to don your favorite headpiece that you style your hair accordingly. Now I'm no hairstylist but I've seen many stylish women with long hair, choose some winning hairdos with their hats as well a some that weren't so great. Today I'm going to show you a few great options to tame your tresses while sporting your favorite headgear. For the first look, I've put Beth in a cute felt wide brimmed fedora. The heavy material of this piece make it a great option to pair with ensembles in the cooler months. As for Beth's hairstyle, we've parted her hair to the side with this hat and left it hanging long. This works well here because the larger size of the hat is balanced by the long swoop and the long length of her hair. But if wearing your hair down isn't working for you, another great option for a hat like this is a side braid. Again, as you see here the length of the hair balances the large width of the hat. Next, I've put Beth in one of my favorite head topping pieces of the moment, the turban. This piece is great to add an interesting element to a plain Summer dress or a wide legged pant and dress combination. As for Beth's hairstyle, I've parted her hair down the center and left it down and wavy. While this can work with straight hair too, I like the Bohemian vibe you get from the more natural wave but for a more dramatic and chic look, try wearing a side bun. This hairstyle is a great option to tame long hair especially when it's a couple days unwashed. Overall, when working with long hair and a hat, I think it's best to go all the way up like a bun or a side braid or all the way down, parted either down the center or the side. All four of these options will give you a cool put together look.
