Hi, I'm Nikki, and I'm a hairstylist. And today, I'm going to be showing you how to wear accessories in short hair. It's important to know how to wear accessories in short hair because you can change up your style and have a little more fun with your look. Our first tool that we are going to use is a feather. This is the accessory that we are going to be wearing the hair. Our second tool is a comb with the fine tooth edge on it. We are going to use this to back comb the hair and add some volume definition to the style. Our third tool is bobby pins. We are going to use this to secure the feather in the hair. And our fourth tool is hairspray. We are going to use this to add some grip and hold to the hair and finish the style. So, our first step is going to be to take our hairspray and we are going to apply this to the hair and give it a little bit of body and volume through the crown. So, I'm just going to work some hairspray in near the roots. Just give me a little more body and grip through the hair. My hair is pretty clean so this is going to help the bobby pin and the accessory to stay in better. And then our second step we are going to take our comb with the fine tooth edge on it and we are going to back comb the hair right around the crown. So, I'm going to lift sections of hair around the crown and back comb. This is how you build some body and definition in the hair. Just keep that coming around the crown until you get the desired amount of body that you want in the hair. I like my hair pretty big so I usually do a lot of back combing. And our third step is to put our feather accessory in the hair so you want to start with the thin end at the top here. And pick where you are going to put your accessory in which I'm going to put it on this side right here. I'm going to push this hair back out of the way and lay your feather right along the root area. And take our bobby pin and pin it into the hair. There we go. And then you want to smooth your hair back down over the top. and now we have a little feather extension on the hair. And then our last step is going to be to take our hairspray and finish the style. So I'm going to just mist a little bit of hairspray over the top and now you have a nice feather accessory in the hair and a little bit of grip to hold your style. Total time for this look should be between five to ten minutes. It's important to pick an accessory that works well with your style. That could be anything from feathers to a headband with decorations or a special barrette. I picked a feather because I like to wear a lot of feather earrings and it goes well with my style. You can pick them up at hunting and fishing supply stores or there's also specialty retailers online that carry all different kinds of colors of feathers to complete your look. Total cost for this style can be anywhere from three to twenty dollars depending on how fancy you want to go with your accessories. Thank you so much for watching.
