I'm Emily Golie, professional hairstylist, here to talk to you about how to get more natural volume in your hair. Some of the most important tools for this are a good brush, either a great round brush or a great flat wrapping brush; a blow dryer, and a great mousse for when your hair is wet, and a hairspray once it's dry. First step is on wet hair or damp hair, add a little mousse. You don't need very much, and you are going to put it mostly right through the roots. Rub it through your hands first before you apply it into your hair. That way you get even coverage everywhere. Put it right through the roots on both sides. Smooth it down and into the hair so that you can't see anymore mousse. If you need to you can brush it in to make sure you have even application. Once the mousse is in you can section off a section at a time, it makes it a little bit easier to do it. Use a little clip. Use your round brush if you like the round brush. Take a section, not too big now. Something just that fits on the brush. Use your blow dryer. Try to direct the heat as much as you can down and away from the root. That way you don't get crazy fly aways. And go ahead and round brush the hair using the blow dryer. And get it completely dry. Once you get it completely dry, hold it up here for a minute and let it cool off. Letting it cool at this stage will help create the volume that you want because hair is still very moldable when it's hot. And if you release, then it will lose it's volume but if it cools off some you'll create more volume. To create volume using a flat brush, you can just use your own head as the round brush. And go ahead and flat wrap your hair all the way over. And this will create the volume you are looking for. Get it over, blow dry it until it's all the way dry. Do it all the way from the back to the front and go from the other side over. And you will create a lot of volume that way. Get it all the way dry and then put it back where you want it. After you complete your blow dry and your hair is all the way dry go ahead and use a nice light hairspray that has a good hold but it's still moldable. Those are some great tips on how to get natural volume without having to tease your hair. I'm Emily Golie, thanks for watching.
