Hey guys, my name is Dominique and I'm a makeup artist. Today I'm going to be showing you how to boost lip color. How many lipsticks that you have at home sitting in a drawer that you absolutely loved in the store? But now they just don't seem to do the trick. Well grab those lipsticks, because I'm about to show you how to bring them back to life. So here are our tools. Today we've chosen two lipsticks that are in the same color family. The first color here is a little bit lighter, but the pigmentation is rich and deep. The second color that we've chosen today, although deeper, has a little bit of shimmer in it. So, it's going to make the overall appearance of the lipsticks seem brighter as we mix them together. Our third tool is a cotton swab. Our cotton swab is going to be used as a spatula to remove color from each lipstick by placing it on the back of our hand to mix the colors together. Our fourth tool is our lip brush. Our lip brush is going to help mix the colors together, but also it's going to give us even application to the lips. Our fifth and final tool is our actual lip liner. We're going to use the lip liner to frame the lips after we've put the color on. So, our first step is to take the color from the lipstick using our spatula, which is our cotton swab, and placing the colors on the back of the hand. Color number one. We're just going to use a little bit here, and placing it right on the back of the hand. OK. Same thing for our second color of lipstick. Lift that up. Scrape a little bit. You can use any tool. I like to just use a cotton swab just because it's really convenient and easy. There. OK. The next thing we're going to do is we're going to take our lip brush and we're going to blend the colors together. So, I'm going to start. Always adding a little bit of the darker to the lighter color until you get the perfect blend that you're looking for. See how I ended up not using as much of that darker pigment as I don't want it too deep. Just enough to get a nice, bright hue. Our next step is to actually apply our newly mixed color. So, starting in the center of the lip and working our way out. And look at how pretty and unique this shade is. And no one else is going to have your color, so don't share your secrets with everyone, and make it unique. See how well these colors look blended together? This brush really helps to blend those out. OK. And don't worry if you mess up because we're about to use a lip liner to really frame the lip. Notice I didn't go all the way up on my lip line, I came really close, and next we're going to use the lip liner. The reason we're doing the lip liner last is because we don't want to create too much of a distinction between the lip liner and the actual lipstick. So, starting on the lip line where the lipstick kind of meets. Going to go all the way across. And I'm purposely going to do one side. See how pretty that looks? Just nice, even and it really finishes it off. Mixing lip color should only take between one to two minutes. The most important thing to remember when mixing your shades together is to always add the darker color to the lighter. Remember, it's a lot easier to add a darker color to a lighter color than it is to try to lighten a deeper color. Our essential item today was our lip brush. Remember, a lip brush helped us with so many things. It helped us blend the colors together, but also helped us with an easy, flawless application. The cost of all of these items together should range from 50 dollars to 110 dollars. Have fun creating your perfect shade of lipstick using my tips on how to mix lipsticks together.
