Hi, I'm stylist Natalie Ogura. Here are some tips for finding the best little black dress for your body type. A little black dress should be classic and chic. The dress is an investment piece that you're going to wear countless times in the years to come. So do make sure the tailoring and fit is top notch. The dress should act as a flattering canvas that you can dress up or dress down with accessories depending on the event you're attending. Then, figure out what you love most about your body and choose a dress that most flatters that characteristic. Here, Holly is wearing a little black dress with a plunging neckline and from Macy's. It draws attention to Holly's tiny waist and pretty neckline. This dress is a simple silhouette that can be transformed into twenty different looks depending on the accessories. Here, an amethyst necklace by Marianne Homsy creates a bold and fashion forward statement. A strand of pearls would create a more classic look and a long double strand crystal necklace is perfect for a night on the town. Just replace the black shoes with a nude ankle boot. For a gallery reception, the options are endless. If you're a petite, a dress with an empire waist will lengthen your look. If you're a plus size or more pear shaped, a v-neck in an a-line silhouette might be best. Have a small bust? Look for beading or tasteful ruffling along the bust line. A large one? Try a wrap dress.
