Hi, my name's Joanna, and I'm a hairstylist. I'm going to show you how to style your hair like the stars. If you look in T.V. and magazines, curls are everywhere right now, so let's take a look at how to get that runway style anytime you want. Here's what you need: a comb, a claw clip, a thermal styling spray, and a one inch curling iron. The first step you're going to do is pull your hair back into a low ponytail but you're going to leave about an inch and a half section hanging. Then you're going to take your claw clip and clip the rest out of the way, and since I have a longer bang, I take a bobby pin and I pin my bangs back just so I can see what I'm doing when I'm working. Alright, from here, you're going to take your thermal spray that you have and you're going to spray the whole section. This is just going to protect the hair from the heat of the irons 'cause they're so hot these days. Just come it through and then you're going to take a vertical section, and your curling iron. And most people probably think you're going to start at the bottom when you curl up, what you're going to do is going to start all the way by the scalp. This is going to help the curl go from all the way from the scalp to the ends. So you take your curling iron vertically and you twist it and slide and you're going to just open it slightly and twist and just add a little bit more hair as you go. You want to get that curl starting all the way from the scalp to the ends. You want to get that curl all the way from the scalp to the ends. And I always leave a little bit out just so it's a little bit more of a natural looking curl. You hold for a few seconds, you open it and just slide it out and there's your curl. And you're just going to keep repeating this along this whole section, vertical sections and curl them all going the same direction, this way, 'cause when we move up to the next section, we're going to curl them going them going the opposite way. That way, it's just a little bit more of a natural look all the way around. So you start again, right at the scalp, as vertical as you can keep the iron, twisting, sliding down, twisting up, opening, twisting, leaving just a little bit out, hold and release. Get a couple more sections out of this one, it's a little trickier. Twisting, sliding. And the more you get used to this, the faster you'll be. One last section, clamp twist, slide...and release. Alright, now you're going to drop this ponytail and you're just going to take another semi-small section, all the way around, and clipping that out of the way. Alright, so now we're going to take a section and we're going to curl it the same way that we did the other ones, but we're going to curl it the opposite direction. So you take your curling iron, and we're going to curl it towards our face this time. So you take it, about an inch away from the face, your going to slide it down, twist it up, slide it down, twist it up. All the way, hold for a few seconds and release. And you're just going to continue to do that all the way around, alrighty, about an inch away, twist, slide down, twist back up, slide down and hold. Alrighty, and you're just going to continue doing this all the way around your head. Alrighty, this is the last section on this side, so you're just going to keep doin' what you've been doin', twisting and sliding, hold, alright. And that was about six times on that section, so now we're going to do the exact same thing, drop a little bit more...and we're going to curl this section the same way we curled the very first section. So we finished doing this one away from the face so we're going to start going towards the face on this side. Alright, and now for this section, we're going to just drop all of the hair down 'cause we're moving closer to the top. You're not going to do the top like you would do the sides and the back. Okay, so now we're going to take just this mohawk section right through the top and we're going to clip that out of the way. We're going to style that just a little bit differently then we've been doing the back and the sides, so just clip this out of the way and we'll finish with this piece. So you're just going to continue doing the same exact thing we've been doing with this whole section now that we've just dropped that. Alright, now for the top section, you're just going to drop it all the way down and this, what were going to do, slightly differently, instead of just spraying the whole section, we're going to do each piece as we do it. So there's going to be a little bit more definition for every curl because this is the top where you want to see all the dimension. So from here, this way you can kind of twist and alternate back and forth. You don't have to go all the same direction. It's kind of just your preference of how you want the top to look, so I'm just going to kind of alternate from side to side. So I'm going to spray each section, just a little bit, alright. And I like to always go back away from the face and then back through here I can curl it towards the face. I just think it softens the look if it's kind of going back so you just kind of keep finding these sections, spray, keep twisting. I'll move to the bang section. This one I'm going to kind of go just straight back. So you spray it. This is going to give it that swept off the face look, so you just curl it. This one, you do kind of go all the way to the end, as much as you want, and then you twist it down and you hold it for just a couple seconds. And since my bangs go this way, I'm going to pull it out the same way that it's going to fall. And you grab the other section of the bang and do the exact same thing. Combing it out, spray, and you're going to do the exact same thing, and hold. And you're just going to keep continuing to do that same curl all around this mohawk section, spraying each piece as you go. For these last back few pieces, we're just going to kind of take pie shaped sections from the back of this part, all the way around, alternating the curl. And...alright, now we're going to curl towards the face, and it's okay if you get some curls from the other sections. We're almost there. Alrighty, we're almost done. We have one more section after this and then I'll show you how to finalize this look. Alrighty, last piece. So from here, you just can kind of make it your own personal preference, what you want to do. I love volume, so I'm going to tease mine a little bit just in the back and then you can kind of work with the curls and let them scrunch up or fall however you want them to. So I'm just going to take this whole section up here, and since there's already a thermal spray in there, the curl's not going to go anywhere if you comb through it. So just comb through it a little bit and back comb and let that piece fall forward and then just grab sections on either side, comb through and back comb. What I love about this look is it doesn't have to be perfect. Just kind of back comb it up and let it fall. And if you don't want to have all those sections showing that you just curled, you just kind of take your comb, soften them a little bit through the top, run your fingers through. Just tossle your hair, fingers through your hair to loosen them up. And you can already see that they've started to fall and that's just going to be that natural look that we're going for. So just kind of work it where you want it and take some finishing spray. And I like to just kind of scrunch my hair with the spray and it's really just kind of help add that volume and add that dimension to these curls. Just kind of spray it and scrunch. Spray the bangs off my face and you can see how just curling those back gave me that soft little feathered wisped curl off your face. Same thing on the other side, and scrunch it, and there you have it. Hollywood hair just like the stars!
