Hi, my name is Cati James. I'm a hairstylist, and today I'm going to show you how to do some styles for short hair. My particular hair I like to start with it very dry. It kind of does its own thing here. So if you want to add some more texture, give it a little bit more style we're going to use a watered based pomade. I like a water base because it's a little bit lighter. It's not going to build up on your hair and all you need is just a small amount. I covered the tip of one finger and you're rubbing it between your palms and you can pick either side to part on. I like to do it on this side, it's just kind of where my natural part goes and that way it will get it out of your face a little bit, add a little bit of texture, work it in the back so you have a little bit of height in the back. If you have fine hair like me, volume is very important. This just gives it a little bit of spikiness, texture, it's kind of funky. You can do this same style a little bit more clean if you want a little bit less height and texture and that will be for a cleaner look. You can smooth down the sides with the pomade and add a little bit of spiky texture. There's lots of different things you can play with the pomade in short hair so that's just a few little tips. Obviously our most important tool for this is a water based pomade and your fingers. And that's how to style short hair.
