Hi, my name is Cati James. I'm a hairstylist, and today I'm going to show you how to get some quick formal looks for short hair. So today, the tools we're using: a comb, hairspray, a lightweight water based pomade and if you choose, a nice headband. So to start off I'm going to take my comb and choose a side part. You could do either side of you want, I'm going to do this side and then we're just going to slick it down to one side. It's very sleek, very formal. It just looks clean. It looks nice with formal wear. And then we're going to do it all the way around. I kind of like to do a nice diagonal part. It's very flattering and then we just, all the way around. We're smoothing everything out. We don't want any flyaways. So once that's done, you're going to take your water based pomade and that's going to just keep everything very slick. You're going to take maybe two fingers, rub that in and rub it between your hands and then just use that to smooth everything out completely. Get the sides down, it's very sleek, very chic. So then you take your comb again and then just finish it. You want to keep all the flyaways down, get it very very flat and sleek and then for it to hold so you can dance all night, you take your hairspray, give it a couple of spritzes in the front. It's your nice formal look and then if you have an accessory that matches your outfit or you want to wear a nice headband, take it, just put it about the crown of the head and if you want you can kind of get a little bit more volume in the back. It just frames the accessory a little better and then just live the sleek bangs in the front. Our main tool that we used for this is our comb, got everything sleek.
