Hi, I'm Laura, and I'm a hairstylist. Today, we're going to be talking about how to curl dry hair. The first tool you're going to need is a curling iron and you'll want the barrel size to maybe be appropriate to your hair length so say one inch is a good length which is this barrel size is a good length for my hair. You'll also need some hairspray to help set your hair prior to an after curling. A wide tooth comb is great for smoothing out and detangling your hair prior to curling it and you might also want a smooth lotion to apply as your very first step. So, let's talk about that. You might want to apply some smoothing lotion to your hair so that you have a nice smooth base prior to curling. You can then run a comb through it to get your hair completely detangled prior to applying any curls. Next, I recommend spraying some hairspray onto the section of hair you're going to be curling first in order to set the curls and run that through the hair and finally you're ready to pick up your curling iron and start curling that first section of hair. I recommend taking maybe a three inch section of hair, applying the curling iron, running it down to the ends of your hair, and then slowly curling that up towards the base of your head, hold for a few seconds to let that curl set, then you can slowly unwind the curler, release that, give it a little tug so you have a nice gentle curl. And that's how you curl dry hair. One extra tip I'd like to mention is that you may want to finish after you've curled every section of your hair, you may want to finish with a light spritz of hairspray just to be sure you've set your curls. Thanks for watching.
