About the Expert
Hi, I'm Erin, and I'm a fashion stylist. As a mom, I am very familiar with the unwanted presence of belly fat, yuck. But the good news is, I'm also a pro at masking it. There are a couple of strategies. The first is, undergarments and the second is, a loose fitting top, I'm gong to show you both. Our model, Brittany has on, one of the undergarment options. This is a tank top with built-in tummy control, by Spanks. If you don't already know about Spanks, it's an undergarment line and a woman's best friend. It will cinch, suck and tuck in all the excess bits. This tank is comfortable and pretty light weight. It's great for ladies with just a little extra around the mid-section. If your tank isn't going to quite do the trick, you can also try disguising your belly bulge. By wearing a loose fitting top, like a tunic or an empire waist blouse. Brittany is wearing an orange, cotton empire waist shirt from Nordstrom. Empire waist means there is some cinching, just under the bust area. This is great because it highlights the smallest part of the body. And then, it flares slightly, giving her plenty of breathing or belly room, as the case may be. I've paired her top with a dark wash boot cut jean, these are by Citizens of Humanity. The dark wash is slimming and makes her look taller. On her feet, a pair of super cute, chocolate brown wedges. The darker color again, keeping her looking long and lean. Remember, no woman's body, just because you have a little belly, doesn't mean you can't look fabulous.
