Hi, I'm Joanna Wilkinson, style expert and creator of Keep Austin Stylish. Austin is known for its casual and laid back vibe, and this casual mentality sometimes translates a little too literally into how we Austinites dress. But everyone everywhere at some point is going to feel lazy about getting dressed. Sometimes you wake up in the morning and you just don't feel like wearing real clothes. If you could have it your way, you would wear your pajamas out onto the street. But trust me, no one wants to see that and you'll most likely spend your whole day feeling like a lazy bum if you wear your sweatpants out in public. Don't do it. You can still dress casually and comfortably without sacrificing your style. Here's how you do it. Instead of cotton shorts, let's opt for a cotton skirt instead. It's just as easy and comfortable to put on and ten times cuter. Now that we have a fitted skirt on bottom, we can go baggier on top. Throw on a loose vintage tee. It's laid back and has a comfy urban feel and look to it. Now all that's left is the footwear. Resist the urge to slip into flip flops and instead slip into some boots or ballet flats. With this look, you're casual, you're comfortable, but you're still chic.
