About the Expert
Hi, my name is Megan Grady and I'm a hair stylist, and today I'm going to teach you how to do a side bun in long hair. The tools we're going to use today are a small rubber band, bobby pins, and a strong hold hairspray. So, the first step we're going to do is pull your hair to the side that you want your bun to be on. Then, we're going to section the hair into two separate sections. Braid each section in a three-strand braid. And at the bottom of the braid, secure it with a small ponytail holder. Now that we've got our first section braided, we're going to take our second section and do the same. Divide it into three small sections, and braid it. And at the end of this braid, you're going to also secure it with a small ponytail. So, now that we've got both sections braided, we're going to go through and loosen the braids by pulling on the small sections in the braid. And you do this all the way up. This creates the illusion of more hair. Now that we've got both braids braided, we're going to use our bobby pins to pin each braid as we wrap them around each other to create a side bun. Where ever the braids go, you just start to pin, and they fall into place. So, now that we've pinned both braids, we're going to take more bobby pins to just secure any fly-aways, or any hair, like this, that's fallen out, and then pinning any small fly-away sections that are poking out of the button. To finish off the look, I'm going to go through and spray it with a strong hold hairspray. And that's how you create a side bun in long hair. Thank you for watching.
