About the Expert
Hi, my name is Madelon and I'm a hairstylist. Today I'm going to be showing you how to do a blow dry on medium-length hair. The tools you'll need for today are a few clips, a flat brush, and a round brush. As for product you can use whatever you'd like that controls your hair the best. I like something that will give me a little bit of a body and give me control over my hair. So today I'm using a light gel. Once you've shampooed and conditioned your hair and your hair is damp, you will apply your product that you prefer. Now you want to comb your product through your hair. Now with the drying process always dry your hair about 80 percent dry before you start using your tools. Once you are 80 percent dry take a bottom section of your hair right above your nape and pin that up. Now that you have your hair pinned up for your first section that you are going to dry. You are going to take your paddle brush and when you are doing your blow dry you want to comb back and forth. Now that you have your bottom section done you can also go through with a large round brush. Starting at the nape lifting upwards and going down to create more volume. Second step you want to bring down your midsection leaving your top crown. Again, you'll take your paddle brush and do the same motions. When it comes to the front part of your hair I like to use the round brush to create a little bit more volume and a little bit more shape. Now for your top section you can bring it down. And you'll want to take your paddle brush again and do side to side motions just like we've done in the back. Also to get volume at the crown of your hair you push your hair backwards and forwards, side to side, so you have control over the base of your hair. So this is how you do a blow dry for medium-length hair. Thanks for tuning in.
