Cycle 13 Episode 4 The 411

The 411


This episode is all about runway. The girls arrive at the Conga Room where they come to a red carpet and are surprised to see Miss Jay walking with a fierce little girl. Miss Jay introduces 9-year-old Diva Davanna and explains that Tyra discovered her online and had her as a guest on her talk show.  Even though she is only 4’4” she knows how to stand out on the runway.  Today is the day that Miss Jay will be teaching the girls how to “walk tall.”  After a quick wardrobe change the girls walk one by one down the red carpet and then are told that they have to walk in pairs and threes.  As only he can, Miss Jay gives them all tips on how they can make their walk better. 
The next day the girls are taken to a beautiful Malibu mansion and are met by Miss Jay and designer Kevin Hall.   They are told that for this challenge they will be walking in their first live show and will be joined on the runway by models 5’10” and taller.  It is up to them to stand out even though they are petite.  Ann Shoket from Seventeen Magazine tells them that whoever rocks it the best will get to be in a prom advertorial for the magazine.  The girls hold their own next to the tall models but it’s Brittany who wins the challenge.  She gets to pick two friends to join her for the Seventeen shoot and chooses Laura and Kara.  
This week’s photo shoot takes place at a warehouse full of jungle gyms, old couches, ladders and other objects.  Jay Manuel explains that today the girls will be working off the set to cheat their proportions so they can make themselves look as tall as possible.  
Their photographer is Jonathan Mannion, who tells the girls one of his first jobs was shooting Tyra when they were both starting out.  With long dresses, high heels and big hair, the entire shoot is set up so that the girls can look their absolute tallest.  
Jaime Rishar joins the panel as the guest judge this week. Tyra explains that Jaime is the first model to be on two covers of Italian Vogue back to back and is only 5’6”.  The judges decide that Kara had the best photo of the week and did the best job appearing taller than she really is.  Brittany and Lulu end up in the bottom two, but because Lulu lacked tension and her photos make her seem like she’s not interested in modeling she is sent home.
