tyra.com: What’s your job?
KB: Associate Producer of Photo Shoots and Judging
tyra.com: What do you do?
KB: I help coordinate all the elements of the photo shoots and judging. I make sure that we get everything together that’s needed from catering, wardrobe, locations, technical, etc. and let everyone else know what’s happening. I help keep the day going smoothly and I have to be able to predict what people need before they ask. A lot of my job is on set but if I’m not on set I’m preparing for the next day that I will be.
tyra.com: How long have you been working for America’s Next Top Model?
KB: I’ve been on the show since 2006, so for six cycles.
tyra.com: How did you get started?
KB: I went to Delaware State, majored in Television Production and interned every summer with someone different, places like BET, MTV and Ricki Lake. For the BET internship, I knew they were on campus and stalked them to get it. On America’s Next Top Model, I started out as a casting assistant and then was promoted to casting associate and then cast coordinator and then I moved into my current role.
tyra.com: What’s the most fun part of your job?
KB: I love seeing the vision come to life. We start planning months in advance and get the ideas for the photo shoots from all sorts of places, in magazines, driving in your car. I also love working with all the creative people on set and traveling. You get to travel with your best friends and every year you get to go somewhere you would never get to go to otherwise. Amsterdam was my favorite trip.
tyra.com: Any funny stories from set?
KB: My first season as an Associate Producer we had hired a male model for when the girls find out they’re going to Brazil but he cancelled the day we needed him. So, I had 2 hours to find a replacement. We found one right at the last minute and as Tyra was reading her first line I was oiling him up and we pushed him in front of the camera in his Speedo. It was a very close call.
tyra.com: Favorite Top Model contestant?
KB: Bianca from Cycle 9. She had the best personality and New York swagger. She’s a Queens girl and I respect the fact that she’s still working.
