My Black Friday & Cyber Monday Must-Haves

After the turkey is in my belly, the whipped cream has been eaten off my dessert, and I finally wake up from my lazy nap, (y’all know you’ll need a nap after all that turkey) I get my shop on just like everybody else. You might just spot me in some very comfortable clothes, (save that hot dress for those holiday parties) picking up treats to make my friends and family smile.  Here are a few goodies that might make it into this year’s Christmas stockings.

Maple nut fudge from Kelly’s Coffee and Fudge Factory in the Beverly Hills Public Library. Yes, there is a fudge factory in a library! And, yes, I snuck a lot of maple nut fudge while writing Modelland in the stacks. Now that the book is done and I’m on the road, I’m happy to say that they deliver.

The Lion King Diamond Edition on Blu-Ray and the Dumbo 70th Anniversary edition. I want to create a company that lives on like Walt Disney’s, so I love stocking up on the latest re-issues from the Disney vault. The best part is snuggling up over the holidays (maybe that that maple nut fudge you just bought :)) in order to relive childhood memories. Dumbo and his oversized ears remind me of Tookie and her big forehead!

Pop Beauty nail polish. Right now I am obsessed with neon shades, especially yellow, pink and orange. Remember my yellow nails on the Modelland tour? This British line has eye-popping shades that really last. Try putting together a little trio of fun colors for a girlfriend or a co-worker. Fierce!

Touch gloves.Ever try to use your iPhone while wearing gloves? Ohhhh , it is not cute. Your fingers go slipping around and you end up holding your gloves in your mouth trying to tap out a text with freezing cold hands. Touch gloves have some sort of magic filament woven into the fingertips so you can use your phone without turning into an ice cube. Echo Designs has some colorblocked versions that your iPhone fashionista friends will freak over.

Costume jewelry. I love checking out crazy necklaces and shoulder-dusting earrings in those weird mall shops where all the clothes smell like plastic (you know the ones I’m talking about)—and I’ve found some of my favorite pieces in the least haute of spots. Stock up on great pieces for all the ladies (and some of the fiercer men) on your list. The tassel earrings I wore to the Metropolitan Opera cost like $10 (the Roberto Cavalli gown, on the other hand…).
