In the typeF Survival Guide Series we look at different scenarios that you may encounter and provide you with solutions to face these challenging fashion and beauty situations. Hi I'm fashion stylist and typeF expert, Lilliana Vazquez. Employers are looking for smart professional candidates who are presentable. So choosing the proper outfit will go a long way in making that all important first impression. Fashion means business. So you want to show your confidence by wearing something neat, clean, comfortable and well fitted. After all, you should wear the clothes, not the other way around. Some of the best wardrobe options for a job interview are a pantsuit, a skirtsuit or a medium length dress. Your choice will depend on the tone of the company. Black, gray, navy are still the standard in the corporate world but smart use of color and accessories can offer a professional impact and command a feeling of style. So do your homework and then make sure you and your personality stand out. If your interview is for a more conservative company, you may want to go with a pantsuit, try a black slim cut pantsuit that fits your shape and a solid light colored blouse. This style denotes a person who takes the interview process seriously. Fuller figures should opt for a wider leg pant that will help balance out your shape. Athletic figures can try high waisted styles nipped at the waist that help define your shape. Taller gals can try straight leg styles while petite girls can rock super slim cuts. If the company is more fashion forward, you may want to go with a medium length dress but be mindful of the look and shape. The dress length should always cover your thighs and stick to solid colors that aren't too bright. You want to make an impact but don't want to come across too flashy. Now moving on to the really fun part, shoes. Most women have a closet or closets full of shoes and sometimes it's hard to make the right decision but when it comes to interviewing, the choice is simple. Pump it up with pumps. Choose a closed toe pump and make sure that they're comfortable. Always stay away from extremes such as platform stilettos or multi colored styles. A lot of women like to go crazy with the accessories but for a job interview you want to keep it to a minimum. Smartly use your accessories to accentuate your look but not overpower it. A nice watch works well but nothing too big or cumbersome. Bracelets are better avoided as they can clang against the table as you interview. Rings are acceptable as long as you only wear one or two. The same is true for necklaces. Keep them basic. Adding a pin to your jacket can also add a nice touch of pizazz. If you choose to wear earrings, go with simple studs rather than anything that dangles. These can be a big distraction. Your goal is to dress to impress. So follow these tips. Show off your professional demeanor and build the confidence to land the job. Thanks for joining us and good luck. I'll see you on another episode of typeF Survival Guide. Show More Show Less
