Hi. I'm Jennifer Chan for TypeF.com, and welcome to this edition of Style on the Street: New York. Today we're in the East Village, also known as the birthplace of punk rock. So it's no surprise this edgy area has a distinct rock and roll vibe. Needless to say, the East Village attracts plenty of creative young people and cool NYU students with hip, downtown style. Not everybody can pull off two types of stripes, but this woman carried them well. We stopped her on the street to learn more of her cool styling tips. What's your name? Hi, I'm Maggie Lee. And where do you live? I live in East Village. And describe your personal style. I guess I would have to say it's comfortable, Bohemian... like, a little glam, maybe? Something like that. Now walk me through your outfit head to toe. Where did you get everything from? This was my grandmother's. It's a Jeffrey Bean head scarf. And this is from American Apparel. These pants I actually don't know what the designer is, but they're from Cloak and Dagger on 9th street. Dolce Vita shoes, and Karen Walker sunglasses. I love your sunglasses. What are your favorite shops in the area? I like to do a little more vintage style. If you walk down 7th street, there's like a million stores over there, and then I just do Top Shop, H&M, like... cheap finds. Perfect. And what's your favorite trick for flattering your figure? Definitely cinch the waist. Is there an item in your closet that's your favorite, must-have, go-to piece? My go-to piece are these... I'm obsessed with them right now, these tie-dye harem pants that I got this summer, and I can't give them up for the fall. I'm trying to work them into the new wardrobe. Okay. Now do you have a secret style tip you can share with us? I think just go with what you like and feel comfortable with. Like I, I don't know, I haven't really been following stuff for a while. I just kind of go with the pieces that make me feel most comfortable. And describe your style in three words. Bohemian, comfortable, and flattering. You look amazing. Thank you! Thanks so much for joining me with this edition of Style in the Street: New York. Be sure to check back for more seasons and more cities on TypeF.com.
