Hi everyone, it's Jennifer Chan for Typef.com and welcome to this edition of Style on the Street, New York. Today we're at Lincoln Center right in the mix of New York Fashion Week where industry insiders gather not only to preview next season's hottest trends but also to show off their impeccable style and flawless fashion expertise. This woman effectively pulled off an all neutral outfit without looking the least bit boring. We had to stop her and learn more about her look. Hi what's your name? I'm Amy Levin, founder of College Fashionista. And where do you live? I live in New York. And describe your personal style. I'd say my personal style is heavily influenced by men's wear mixed with feminine pieces. For example, I'm wearing a pretty menswear inspired blouse that goes up to the top and then I fused in metallics and a tweed print in a short mini skirt so that's usually how my typical wardrobe and outfits consist of, mixing menswear and small pieces of you know, girly items so that I'm not totally looking like a boy. I love how unique your outfit is. Where did you get everything from? So, my shoes are Valentino. My skirt is from Zara and my top is from Zara and that's usually what my wardrobe consists of. I like mixing a designer heel with an H & M or Forever 21, a Zara type piece. As the founder of College Fashionista I'm always talking about how to get fashion on a budget for college students so I like wearing what I'm talking about and what I'm representing in my brand. Perfect, and tell me about your accessories, your sunglasses and your rings. So these are my signature sunnies, I always wear them. I'll rarely not wear them. They're Dries Van No End and these are from Jewelmint which is the new collection with Kate Bosworth and Share Couture, it's where you can get different pieces of jewelry each month for $29.99 and I'm pretty minimal with my jewelry right now. I wanted to let my skirt and rest of my outfit kind of shine. Great, it sounds like you've got some great tips. Tell us a secret fashion tip you have. I am a total vintage girl. That's always my tip I give everyone. I think it's kind of the best place to go to for inspiration and also to find that unique item that no one else is going to have. Yesterday I was wearing a cashmere like florescent purple sweater and I got tons of compliments and it was vintage and it was 20 bucks. So especially for you know, my readers, college students, I'm always saying vintage. That's really the best place to find unique items on a budget as well. I love that. What's your favorite fashion item in your closet? Leather pants. I love leather pants this season and I particularly like pairing them with a fur coat. I think right now for Fall there's a lot of glamor going on. Mew Mew's glitter heels are amazing, something that I definitely want to have in my wardrobe. But leather pants happens to be my staple, wearing it with a white T shirt i think is very cool and chic for Fall. I love that. Okay now how do you flatter your figure? I'm all about flattering your figure. I think that it's important to stay in trend and wear things that are trendy but if you don't look good in them, it's not trendy and cool and I know that my stomach region is something that I'm a little insecure about so I like wearing things that are a little bit higher up that don't necessarily you know, show the whole stomach. I'm also all about trousers, they fit me really well and it's kind of figuring out what looks good on you and then incorporating new trends and you know, like I said it's important to be fashion forward and stay in trend, but if it doesn't look good, it's not trendy. It's not cool. Okay and describe your style in three words, eclectic, carefree and it's just fun. I don't know, I don't take fashion so seriously. Being here at fashion week I think it's all about just having fun with it and it's just an extension of who you are and I'm all about having fun and just wearing things that I feel comfortable in. Perfect, thanks so much for all those great tips. Thanks for having me. Thanks so much for joining me for this edition of Style on the Street, New York.
