The Chevron Stripes Look in Brooklyn:

Hi I'm Jennifer Chan for Typef.com and welcome to this edition of Style on the Street, New York. Today we're in Brooklyn, a neighboring borough to Manhattan and a hot up and coming area, bursting with diversity. Black and white chevron stripes aren't for everyone but this woman found a way to make them figure flattering. We stopped her to find out more of her styling tricks. What's your name. I'm Alisha. And where do you live? In London. And tell me about your personal style. I would say that I am quite street kind of wear with a little bit of sort of glamor I suppose mixed in. I probably wear a lot of black but yeah, quite easy glam. Something I can wear casually in the day and dress up at night with a pair of heels like this dress. I love this dress. I want to know where you got everything from head to toe. So the dress is actually from Mason which I'm going to see in Paris next week which is very exciting. It's got everything okay? So the sunglasses are Prada. The bag obviously is Chanel which is my absolute favorite item in the whole wardrobe. A few of Marc Jacob's jewelry in bits and pieces and some shoes from Reese which is a store in London that's very well known. Perfect, and what about your bangles. Again, Marc Jacobs, and a beautiful gold bracelet from my boyfriend. Okay we've got some incredible style. I want to know what your favorite trick is for flattering your figure? So definitely for me personally I like my wine so I've got a bit of a tummy here and I think that you know, I always try to accentuate my waist so that it makes me hopefully a little bit drawn in and look a little bit longer instead and it hides my little tummy there. Okay, perfect, and what's your favorite item in your closet, your go to must have piece? Well it would definitely be this bag I would say. I wear it with absolutely everything and I find that I can wear it casually and at night and I just adore it. Plus it took a long time to save for so I better get my wear out of it. It's worth it though right? Yeah, definitely. What are you obsessed with for Fall? I'm really liking the cocoon shaped coats at the moment that are sort of in. I think they're quite flattering and for me again, hides my tummy, so it's really good, accentuates the legs which I think is good. And again, loving sort of the ankle boots. There's some fabulous styles around. I just seen some retro komi boots which I adore which we can't get in London so yeah, I'm probably going to go back and get those later. So you've got some shopping ahead of you. Okay and what is your style challenge and how do you overcome it? So I think again it would be sort of hiding my midriff and trying to lengthen my legs all the time. I often wear short things and things that are nipped in at the waist to try and do this and I think for coming into Fall, it will be the same thing with coats, nipping in at the waist and typing them and making it hopefully look slimmer and longer and taller. Perfect, those are great tips. Describe your style in three words. Hopefully fresh. I like to think savvy and quite classic I'd say. Well you look great. Thank you very much. Thank you. Okay.
