Hi I'm Jennifer Chan for Typef.com and welcome to this edition of Style on the Street, New York. Today we're in Brooklyn, a neighboring borough to Manhattan and a hot up and coming area, bursting with diversity. This woman paired a bright pink floral dress with a masculine army vest. With style sense like this we knew we had to stop her and find out more. What's your name? Hannah Rictman. And where do you live? I live in Manhattan in the upper west side. And describe your personal style. My style I would have to say is really eclectic. I like to have fun. I don't like to be too serious with what I'm wearing. I always like to use a lot of color and kind of just be comfortable and really kind of a bit classic. Definitely, well your outfit totally stands out on the street. Thank you. Walk me through everything head to toe, where did you get everything from? Okay, I got this vest from Reformation. It's actually from their off brand at Urban Outfitters. The dress is DKNY. The purse is vintage that I copped in Stockholm, actually and then the boots are a friend of mine. Okay, what about your jewelry? The jewelry is all vintage actually and so are the sunglasses. Perfect. Okay so what are your favorite stores to go to here in Brooklyn? Oh I love Beacon's Closet. Beacon's Closet is like the mecca for all of the amazing clothes in Brooklyn and there are so many independent shops here that I really really enjoy but I think Beacon's Closet would probably like take the cake for me. Sounds good I'll have to check that out. So what's your favorite trick for flattering your figure? Well I would have to say I have a smaller top and wider hips so I always kind of like to flatter the top. I would wear something tight around top and looser on the bottom or tight around the bottom, looser on top, kind of balance it out and I love dresses that kind of have a low set waist because I think that really gives a nice sleek look and that's what I always try to wear. Good tip. What are you obsessed with for Fall? I am obsessed with denim, I think pairing denim on denim is amazing. I just recently bought a pair of overalls that I am obsessed with, I can wear them with everything and I think really chunky sweaters and tailored, anything with a really nice blazer or a tailored pant I think is really great as well. Awesome. Now do you have a style challenge and how do you overcome it? Ooh, style challenge, I think dressing for the weather in New York because it's so unpredictable. I mean today is supposed to be Fall but it's obviously not, it's really hot so that's always a challenge. I always try to make sure that I'm comfortable in the very least and wearing what suits the weather outside. Perfect, and what's your favorite item in your closet, your go to piece. My go to piece would probably be my overalls right now, I'm not going to lie. I wear them all the time and I can pair anything underneath them from a sequined top to just a plain white tee, I think they look great with everything. Sounds incredible.
