- Hi, I'm Amy Hollier and I'm a celebrity make-up artist. Today, I'm going to show you how to wear black eye shadow. So before I show you where to apply black eye shadow I want to show you how to make it last. What I'm going to do is start by using a black gel eyeliner. And I'm just going to show you the difference when you apply a black liner first and then layer the eye shadow on top of it. Now you can really see the difference when you put eye shadow over black liner, compared to eye shadow on your bare skin. So I'm going to go ahead and apply her black liner. And I'm using a pretty wide brush but it is a flat synthetic brush. You could use an eyeliner brush or a lip brush. Just something you can use to paint on the liner itself. So once you've decided how you want to place your shadow go ahead and just take your finger and smudge the edge very carefully. Almost like a smoky effect, before applying the eye shadow on top. So now that i have her eyelids all prepped I'm going to go ahead and apply the shadow. I'm going to use the Maybelline Expert Wear Shadow and Night Sky. It has a tiny bit of a shimmer to it. And I'm just going to start by loading up my brush. Really getting all the color on there and then just pressing it right into that liner. Now when you're using a dark colored shadow like this it's fine to keep reloading your brush over and over. You want to make sure you get as much on as possible. And I just started from the outside and I'm just working my way to the inner corner. So once you've applied all the black shadow over the liner you can take a fluffy brush and just swirl it right onto the shadow. Tap off any of the excess and then just blend that edge out. Now she has a beautiful soft black eye shadow. So just finish it off with a little black mascara and that's how you wear black eye shadow. I'm Amy Hollier, thanks for watching.
