- Hi, I'm Jeffrey Paul, celebrity makeup artist, and today I'm going to show you how to use liquid eyeliner. A lot of women want to wear liquid eyeliner and find it might be tricky but I'm going to show you some tips that make it easy for you so that you can do it at home. So let's get started. I'm choosing Maybelline Line Stiletto. So when applying liquid eyeliner, I know it's scary because sometimes you might feel that you can't make a mistake, you can, but here are some tips that you can use. I sometimes like to get a tissue, take off the excess of liner on the tissue. That way you won't have any runs or smears, it's easier to apply. The reason the felt tip was created was so that it was a soft easy way to apply the liner. Let the brush lay right in between the lashes and the skin and then drag it. And what I do is I start in the middle of the eye and drag out, move towards the corner, inner corner and then actually go to the corner and swoop. I leave the very edge to be done last and I'll show you why after we get both sides done. Starting now on the middle to inner corner I lay the brush and drag slightly, middle to outside corner, drag slightly. Now I go to the inside corner and just connect to make sure the line is even and light all the way through. I lift the eyelid just a tiny bit to make sure that I'm getting the skin that's directly next to the lashes. In finishing the look, this is fine if you want to just create a liner over the eye but you can add more drama. You can add more sophistication or you can add a period type of look to the eye. What that consists of is actually making the corner go out a little bit or winging or a winged eyeliner look. Again, take off the excess off the brush, look down, actually look away from me and what you want to do is follow where the lower lid would actually continue. So I can see my lower lid and if I drew a line it would come up, slightly like that. So I know that is where the wing should continue to have symmetry for the face. So what I'll do, knowing that's my ending point, I'm going to use it as my starting point and go right from the outside edge there. What I did is I started the outside edge, worked my way in so that the line actually blended down into the other liner and then added a second coat going outward. Keep in mind that liquid eye, you always want to have a chance to let it dry so it doesn't print on the skin or the eyelid up above. When finishing the look you want to make sure both lines have the same symmetry. You can take a brush or a card and just hold it up next to your face as you look in the mirror and make sure both lines are moving at the same angle. There you go, that's how you use liquid eyeliner. I'm Jeffrey Paul. Thank you for watching.
