Hi, I'm skin care expert Tracy O'Connor, and today I'm going to show you how to us a facial toner. So first off, what is a toner? Why do we use it? And when do we use it? We use a toner after our cleanser and before our moisturizer. And a toner is designed to restore a healthy pH balance to the skin that a cleanser can often disrupt. Also a toner is designed to get rid of some of the residue that a cleanser might leave and any residual makeup or dirt or debris. This toner is the Calendula Herbal Extract Toner by Kiehl's. Such a great toner because it has this natural calendula flower inside that's hand harvested, and it's very gentle on the skin, cooling and calming. So you just apply a little bit of the toner onto the cotton pad or a sterile cotton ball, and then apply. Always want to be gentle on the skin whenever using any kind of a cotton pad. You don't want anything that's harsh or abrasive. And we just work the toner into the skin, and you can see, we're getting a little bit of the residual makeup that Genevieve had on her skin. You can see it right there, and that's what's great about a toner is it helps to get anything that your cleanser may have left behind in a very soothing and calming way. Now whenever choosing a toner, there are so many toners out there that have alcohol. And that's something that you do want to avoid, never put alcohol on your skin. Now the purpose of a toner is to restore the natural healthy pH balance of the skin to about 5.4. And for me, I don't go anywhere without a toner, because it's oftentimes very difficult to wash your skin, but if you're on an airplane, and your skin's getting dehydrated, or kind of feels congested by the air, it's a perfect way to kind of restore that health and vitality to the skin by using just a little bit of toner. And here's the deal with toner, you don't want a toner that makes the skin feel tight. You want the appearance of pores to be smaller, but you don't want to feel that tightness. The skin should feel smooth, feel hydrated and just feel healthy and balanced. Okay, so there you go. That's how to use facial toners. I'm Tracy O'Connor, thanks for watching.
