- Hi I'm beauty expert, Tracy O'Connor and today I'm going to show you how to use a facial moisturizer. A facial moisturizer is absolutely important and should be incorporated into everybody's regimen. So, I'm going to show you how to use a facial moisturizer and also talk to you about the benefits of using one. So for our demo, I'm going to use the ultra facial cream by Kiehl's. Okay so when do you use a facial moisturizer? You want to use a face cream morning and night and you want to use it of course after you do a cleanse. So whether you get out of the shower or you cleanse your skin in the sink, I recommend leaving a little bit of the moisture on your skin from washing and just allow that to absorb into the skin. Now once your skin feels damp but not completely dry, that's when it's time to apply. You just want to take a little bit of the facial cream, this is about a dime size amount and you want to start to apply onto the skin, the four parts of the face, our forehead, our cheeks, our nose and our chin. Okay now when applying a facial moisturizer, we always want to work against gravity so we want to work moving upwards. One tip, never tug on the skin especially around the eye area because this area is very very delicate. Now this moisturizer contains glycoproteins which are an incredible hydrator. They draw the moisture right out of the air and into your skin cells. Now what you want to look for in a moisturizer is not a moisturizer with a million ingredients on the ingredient dock and this particular moisturizer has under twelve ingredients which I think is really key if you have sensitive skin. It also contains glycerin and glycerin is an incredible moisturizer and hydrator. A couple tips, if it is the Summertime and you're going to be spending time outdoors, I suggest choosing a moisturizer during the a.m. that has an SPF 15, at least SPF 15 or higher. And one final tip, if you do tend to have a little bit of oily skin, I would look for a moisturizer that is oil free, that will help to prevent breakout in the future and also congestion. And there you go, that's how to use a face moisturizer. I'm Tracy O'Connor. Thanks for watching.
