- Hi, I'm Louis Santalices, celebrity hairstylist. And today, I'm going to show you how to use a curling iron for maximum results. OK. So, what you're going to need at home are a few tools. You're going to need some clips, a rattail comb, a one inch curling iron, a blow dryer and some products. Top really set this look, I'm going to use Mega Hold hairspray by L'Oreal. To get started, we want to section the hair. It's really important to get control of your hair, because it's really easy to lost in curling the hair. So, we want to section that away. Again, I'm going to start here. Going to use some hairspray, give it a nice spritz. And grab the curling iron and I want to begin here and get it close to the root area as possible and kind of leaving the ends for last. The ends don't need as much heat. Hold it there for a moment, and go ahead and unwind the curl. Take another section, spritz the hair, mainly in this area, so that way, the hold will really grab. Curling, leaving out the tips for last. Hold it there for a moment, and go ahead and release. And you can see the entire section of hair is completely curled. And we don't want to touch that until it's completely cooled down. So, we're just going to move on to the next section. If you'd like, you can take everything away, or you can also alternate the curls, going the other direction. But I do advise the first kind of couple of sections, I like to put away from the face. OK. Now, we've finished the curl and now we're going to finalize the look by adding a little bit of hairspray and blowing out the curl with the blow dryer. So, I'm bringing all the hair forward, giving it, just pulling it out with my fingers. I'm going to just blow dry the hair. We just want to shake everything out. Then I'm going to finish by using some spray, mainly focusing on the ends. I like to scrunch the hair just like this. Just like make sure it's nice and piece-y, making sure that there's a lot of movement. OK. And as you can see, we've maximized the hair, lots of volume, with curl and spray. It's just beautiful. And there's one extra tip I like to do, is I like to take a fine tooth comb with the bristles really close together, the teeth, and I like just to kind of gently kind of go through and kind of go against the grain. And what that does is add a lot of volume and encourages the curl and lots of drama to the hair. You can just kind of go in, after you've curled your hair, pulled it out, you can kind of just encourage it to be a lot more volume. OK. And there you go. That's how to achieve maximum volume using a curling iron. I'm Loius Santalices, and thank you for watching.
