- Celebrity hairstylist David Dang here showing you how you can texturize hair before giving it some twist. Ever wonder what you're doing with your hair before you're styling it? Well we're going to show you how to texturize it by using a couple things. Our curling irons for one. We're going to use our comb. A couple other combs and then our spray. So the spray that we're going to be using today is our L'Oreal Paris EverStyle Strong Holding Styling Spray. So Lauren's hair is already in its natural form. It's straight. It's not really, you know, wavy. It does have body to it but she does have fine to normal hair. So what we need to do in preparation to do any sort of updo or style is get it texturized. But as you can see it's so sleek and shiny and that's not a bad thing but what we want to do is when you style hair, you want to get a grip and so right now she has no grip in her hair. If I try to do any sort of form of curl at all it would fall immediately right out. So here we are showing you how to use a texturizing spray to give your hair a little bit more of a zhush. So when using the spray for preparation, all you need to do is just spray a little bit of it. Remember, less is more. Comb it through. And you already feel it and it has a little bit more grip. Now you can also spray some more if you feel like you need to dirty it up a little bit, but as for right now, this is pretty well. So what I'll do is I'll go ahead and start to style her hair. All we need is a little bit of a curling iron. Any inch is good depending on what kind of style you're doing and then go for a curl. Now, once we get some sort of form of curl in there, we'll go in and shape it because we're going to show you how the texturizing spray works when you're going to curl your hair. Once again use a texturizing spray. Use your smaller comb. Comb that through. Go ahead and back comb a little bit and you can already see the formation of how the hair is already starting to grip. From here to here. Once again back comb if necessary. And then start to twist. Now, once you start to twist you'll see that you need a little bit more texture or a little bit more grip. Go ahead and don't be afraid to use more spray and from here go ahead and loosen up your curl. And you can see the hair is already starting to grasp on to the hairspray. Voil? and then you take that and whatever style that you're working with go ahead and work with that. You'll take some bobby pins and you'll put it in. And you see that her hair is already starting to work with that. So you can do that or you can start to use the spray as a versatile tool. You can use the spray before you curl at all. So once again, section any part of your hair just so it dirties it up, gives it a little bit more of a grip and one it can also be used as a heat protectant too. You can use your hands to put that through mids to ends. Go ahead and pick up your curling iron. Curl your hair a little bit. It's already starting to tug because of the product that's in there. And go ahead and release. And voil?. You see that her hair is already starting to hold a nicer curl, while the other side of her hair is still sleek and nice. So you see the two differences between having a grip and not having any grip at all. Now that I've shown you two methods of how to curl your hair and give it a little bit more texture with one the curling iron, or doing it yourself by twisting it, let me show you a little bit of the combination of both. So just section the hair. And again this look is like timeless, ageless, all the time, everyday wear. Very beachy curls. And again this is sleek so what I'm going to do is I'm going to spray the hairspray. Run it through with my hands mid to ends and then comb it through. And I can already feel that it's getting rough from the brushing which is good. Once again if you don't feel that it's at all gripping go ahead and put some more. Ok. Use your small brush. Go ahead and back comb a little bit. And you can already see it's starting to grip. Now, I'll go ahead and twist it. And once again, you can go ahead and use the spray and then go in and zhush it out. Give it that nice texture that needs. And then when that happens, go ahead and release. I'm going to show you that again but with a curling iron. Once again spray. For one, heat protection, two grip. Comb it through, mids to ends and then curl. Again, this this sort of style works with more of normal to fine hair with no wave, little wave to minimal wave. Alright, after you curl, go ahead and run your hands through it and then start to back comb. That's where the body comes in. That's where the nice grip, the second day look. So once again here we are with a sleek look over here and all the grip and texture over here and as you can tell there's a difference. This is definitely for the second day look for those of you who've just washed your hair and needed something sort of a grip, this is what you're going to use the texturizing spray for. So again, in preparation for an updo or just some volume and something that's not so fresh and sleek, you're going to be using the texturizing spray all over the hair, mids to ends, pull it through with a comb, curling iron or whatnot and then bam, there's some texture. And there you go, that's how you're going to get a grip on your hair. This is David Dang. I'll catch you next time.
