Celebrity hairstylist here David Dang showing you a unique way to do a ponytail. You've seen iconic ponytails in the last couple decades, but now I'm going to show you a different way of doing one. What we're going to be using is hair ties, hair pins, bobby pins, clips, a rattail and a couple other combs including our gel and the gel that we'll be using is L'Oreal Paris Studio Line Invisi Gel. To start, we're going to go ahead and use our brush and to put her in a iconic ponytail. Now, when we start to do the ponytail, remember, the ponytail needs to be on top of the head in the crown area for that height. Depending on what kind of texture you have, usually fine to medium hair and coarse hair works very well. She already had a little bit of wave to her hair but we curled it, preset, ahead of time so that we get a little bit more body and texture into it. As you start to tie your ponytail up, what you do is, when it gets to that place where it's almost tight enough that you won't be able to get another revolution around, go ahead and face the rest of the ponytail in front and then tie it halfway only. So the hair still is between both points. One here, two here. Ok? So once you have that, so ahead and part that ponytail in the middle for a bun. Try and stay even in the middle if you can just so that you have basically the same amount of hair on both sides. Use your hair pins to tie them down. Excellent. It's going to look something like this. Ok? Now once you have that all set, go ahead and take whatever's loose and bring it back. Alright, so then once you get that section over, go ahead and pin that to the scalp. Down there. Hold her and all these little flyaways or sections will be ok, but if you're at all concerned, go ahead and tuck those in with any hair pins. Not bobby pins, just hair pins. So what we have is inspired ponytail look from Lady Gaga. Usually Lady Gaga or Paris Hilton or even other celebrities usually do this little bow just to accentuate their ponytails a little bit more. To give it more of like a shellac textured look, we're going to go ahead and use gel. Put that in the front of her hair. On the sides where the baby fine hairs are and you are set to go. So once you have this gel on, just basically, just pull it through and that's it. Just an easy one, two, three step with the ponytail. This is David Dang, celebrity hairstylist. We'll see you here next time.
