- Hi, I'm celebrity hair stylist Darico Jackson, and today I'm going to show you how to straighten unrelaxed African-American hair. So, once you've blown dry the smoothing serum all the way through the hair, and you get the hair nice and shiny and flat, the key to straightening it even more is going to be using flat out. To help me along with the smoothing process I'm going to use Thermasmooth Shineextend by Mizani. So, if you notice I've moved all the other hair out of the way and you just want to spray it lightly. A little goes a long way. The Mizani anti humidity spritz is designed to block out the humidity. It's an antihumectic. It goes in and seals the cuticle when you apply the heat, so that it will hold up in an extreme humid climate. So, when you're flat ironing, you wan to take small sections, not too small because it'll take you too long. Again, spray a little mist, you apply the flat iron to the base, and then smooth out. See how smooth and shiny that is? So, now I'm just going to take and do the finishing touches. And if you notice, I'm not pulling it completely straight, I'm just going to bevel it a little. So again, at the base, you're going to bring it all the way down and just turn it just a little bit, to create just a nice bend, not too much curl. Doesn't that look nice? And give it a little bend there also gives it a little volume. And we're going to spray a little bit of shine spray on it just to make it glow. Oh, look at that. Doesn't it look gorgeous? And there you go. That's how you straighten unrelaxed African-American hair. I'm Darico Jackson and thanks for watching.
