Hi, my name is Jeremy Clark, Professional Hairstylist and Salon Owner. And today, I'm going to talk to you about how to stop split ends so that your hair can grow. So, why isn't your hair growing longer? A lot of people notice when they're trying to grow their hair, it reaches a certain point and it just seems to sort of tap out or plateau, won't grow up past that point. And what's happening is the hair is actually splitting at that point. It's grown to a certain point and then it's lost its strength and the now it's just splitting, splitting, splitting. And hair is a lot like rope, it's a bunch of tiny fibers that are wound together and there's no knot at the end. So, hence, the hair splits and splits. And the best way to take care of that is to get a light trim, maybe about an eighth of an inch to 16th of an inch, just trim those little split ends off and that'll create a, a stronger point for the hair to go pass. And the next thing to think about is how you're treating your hair. So, it's important to look at the products that you're using and it's important to use a deep conditioner, something that may have keratin or some sort of protein that will help actually bond those split ends together and keep the hair from splitting anymore in between treatments. And another thing to look at is your shampoo. You want to use a shampoo that's moisturizing and gentle, something that won't strip out that conditioner that you've put in or that bond that'll actually help keep it in there in between treatments. I like to use the Garnier Fructis Triple Nutrition Shampoo because it has three essential oils in it; it has avocado, shea and olive oil and these are all very hydrating to the hair. It will help protect the hair and it will help keep it from splitting. And it also has B Vitamins which will help fortify the hair and keep it strong. One last thing to remember is you don't necessarily have to shampoo your hair everyday. If you're experiencing split ends, it's actually better for them if you shampoo every other day. And what you can do in the meantime is just rinse your hair with water really good, kind of scrub it and then, take a day off, let it rest and then shampoo your hair the following. And there you go, that's how to prevent split ends so that your hair can grow longer. I'm Jeremy Clark, thanks for watching.
