Hi I'm Kendra Richards, professional makeup artist and today I'm going to show you what shade of red lipstick to wear. The thing about red lipstick is some people feel really intimidated by it but really everybody can wear red lipstick. It's just about selecting a shade that flatters you. One of the ways that you can do this very easily is think about your wardrobe, thank about the clothes, the reds that you wear, is it a blue red or maybe more of an orange red, that tonal family is something that you already know looks good on you. Select a lipstick that's in that shade range, in the blue red or in the orange red shade and then you'll have a color that's going to be great on you. So today on Leah I'm going to be using the color design in Red Hot by Lancome and I'm going to use actually a makeup brush. You can just apply straight from the tube yourself. This is a matte lipstick. It's incredibly flattering, universally on most people. Sometimes I just start at the center of the mouth and blend out like this so that I can just taper the color and then perfect the lines after I've laid some of that color down. I'm going to turn you a little bit like this, already you can see how flattering that color is. This is so beautiful. Matte lipstick is great as well because it's more durable, it will stay on, doesn't slide around during the day quite so much as a gloss would and it's a very sophisticated look and anybody can add a little glamor and polish to their look by using red lipstick, you know and if you feel like your lips are a little drier and you'd like a creamier lipstick, that's a great option too instead of a matte, maybe if you're a little older as well and you'd like something a little bit softer and fresher, a creamier formulation is a softer look, a matte is definitely a commitment. You want to pull the lip a little bit as you are applying the lipstick it will help give you a clean line and then you just smile a little like this, you can see it's pulling the lip so it's giving you more precision in the application and another thing when you're done, you want to make sure that you're checking the inner ridges or the inner line in the lips so that when you're smiling you're not depositing lipstick on your teeth. You want to make sure you have a clean smile. Okay so we are finishing up the look which is perfect and as you can see her lipstick is in the same shade family as her blush and they are a perfect compliment to each other and that's how you choose the perfect red lipstick for you. I'm Kendra Richards, thanks for watching.
