- Celebrity hair stylist David Dang here, showing you how to do a sexy half-updo. So to create today's sexy half-updo look, what you're going to be using is hair ties, bobby pins, pin, some brushes and a rat tail comb. And to achieve this look, what we're going to need is our L'Oreal Paris EverStyle alcohol-free strong hold spray. Now, besides all of our tools that we're going to be needing, we're going to need some dirty hair. I'm going to use my strong hold spray to give it a little bit more shuz. Just need a little bit more harder, dirtier look, because the style needs to last you all day long. Use your brush, and then comb it through. And here you are. So what we're going to be doing is we're going to do an insider-out ponytail. But in a little bit of a modern twist. We're going to be doing two of those back to back. So what you're going to be doing is you're going to section the hair in the crown section to the opposite bilbump. Section a little behind the ear, and then you're going to section the crown area in a little below the opposite bilbump. Voila, just like that. Now, your crown area sectioning, we're going to go ahead and section one more time, and split that into two. And using the rat tail comb just helps you define the line a little bit more, so that you're working evenly. Go ahead and put that up, 'cause we're going to work with the bottom one first. Alright. So we're going to go ahead and put this one into a ponytail. Tight, but not too tight, so that you're able to work with it. Now, once you get the ponytail in place, you're going to go ahead and put your finger in the middle and spread it to create a hole. Right there. Now, as you create that hole, you're going to go ahead and put the pony tail in the hole. Pretty easy. It's a little loose, but go ahead and tighten it up. Split the bottom, and tighten it up a little bit. Voil?, simple. Do that in a repeat set motion on the top. And here's where the twist of the movie comes in. You're going to take these two sections, and then you're going to put them back down the middle of both, creating a textured look. And as you can see, already really glamorous and sexy. Half-up. So what we're going to do, is we're going to just use a little spray to hold it in place. There we are. And then you're going to use a little bit, you're going to take a little bit of the hair from the bottom, and twist it around, so you don't see any of the rubber bands or hair ties that you've used. Really simple hiding tricks. Use your bobby pin, and just tuck that sucker in. And then what you're going to do is you're just going to complete the look by giving it a little bit of an extra umph by using the curling iron. Then go ahead and curl it. Remember, when you curl, curl away from the face to give it more gravity. Again, gravity is not our friend. More bounce, more umph. And then we'll move to the other section over here. Repeat the same step. And if you need to shape anything else up in the front, then go ahead and do that. But if not, shuz it out, give her that look, and now she's ready for a red carpet look. Half-up, half-down. So once again, what we're going to do to achieve our second sexy half-up, half-down look, is we're going to use our spray, combs, bobby pins, and first what we're going to do is use we're going to use our lighter comb for some teasing. We're going to use half of the crown area for the back-combing. Now, with the power of three, what we're going to do is we're going to section into three sections. Hold it taught, and push down one, two, three, just to create the base. Then you're going to use your strong hold spray, three, and then what you're going to use is a blow dryer. Now, the reason why you use a blow dryer is just to kind of make that glue strong hold. And as you can see, it's already holding. Then we do three of those. Alright, so once you've teased it until it stood up, here it is, three base. And then you're going to take this, take your comb and move it back from the front. Don't pull anything from the back out. And as you can see, we're already starting to get that natural pump. Nothing too high, we just want a little bit of height in there. But it looks gorgeous. So you can't tell. Very soft, very nice. So what we're going to do next is take the front where the temples meet. So take your sections of the front, go ahead and twist those around, and I've created a little twist like that. Okay? Once you've created that twist, we're going to do, and you're going to twist down. Breaking this hairstyle down down. Alright. Now, our lovely friend bobby pin here is going to help us to hold her hair in. Criss-cross, not like the 90s song. Here we are. Voil?. You can either leave it like this, or you can add a little bit of elemental fun to it and do like almost like a little rose in there. Just to hide some of those bobby pins. And as you can see, you have a little bit of roses, nice, it's flowy, it's very Godly-like. And voil?, half-up, half-down. And that's how you do sexy half-up, half-down dos. This is David Dang, celebrity hair stylist.
