- Hi, I'm Carla Kay, Celebrity Manicurist and today, I'm going to show you how to set your nail polish. So, once you've set your nail polish, an absolute must is to finish off with a quick dry top coat. On Elena, I'm going to use Good To Go Rapid Dry Top Coat by Essie. So, I've actually already applied the two layers of color coat, we're just going to finish off by doing a thin coat of the Good To Go Rapid Dry Top Coat. And you always want to make sure you cap off that end; that'll actually help seal the edge of the nail polish where they won't chip. And just make sure you cover with the final coat on each sidewall, all the way over to the edge and capping off the edge will help seal down the polish to avoid chipping. I waited probably about a minute or two in between my coats and by waiting a minute or two, I get more of an even coverage and a smooth look. And then once you have finished your color coats, give it about a minute to dry and then apply your quick dry top coat. I've actually heard people coming up with all kinds of ideas of drying their nail polish, I don't think that you should actually go in the freezer and dry your nail polish. The quick dry coats are all that you need. A lot of people like to fan their hands around and that'll actually, you hit your nails, they get messed up that way. Some people like to use the quick dry spray, but actually, if you over apply, you get too close to the nail polish, you're going to create little air bubbles. So, I just like simply waiting, taking your time, let them dry. Give yourself at least fifteen minutes to sit without doing anything. At home, you only need one coat of top coat not two. One final tip, people think that you need to shake the bottle of top coat; you don't want to do that. You're going to create bubbles which is going to leave little air pockets in the finish coat. Elena's all set and that's how you set your nail polish. I'm Carla Kay, thanks for watching.
