- Hi, I'm beauty expert Tracy O'Connor, and today I'm going to show you how to brighten dark marks left by blemishes. So after we have a blemish, a lot of times the blemish leaves behind something almost as unfortunate, a little dark mark. If you're fair-skinned like Coleen, it might be a little bit red or purplish, or if you're darker-skinned, it will be brownish, kind of a brown-red. So, it's really important that we get rid of the dark marks that are left behind. So on Coleen today, I'm going to use serum that will help to brighten that pigmentation. It is the Mela-D Serum by La Roche-Posay. So I love the ingredients in this product. It has, first of all it's hydroquinone free, and it has kojic acid, which is a natural plant-derived acid, that will help to brighten that pigmentation. And it also has glycolic acid, which not only will brighten those dark marks, but it will also give your skin a natural exfoliation, and kind of a gorgeous glow, a radiance that a lot of times our skin doesn't have if we're not exfoliating properly. Okay, so when we use a treatment product like this, it's a serum. So I'm going to show you, a little bit goes a long way. This has this very cool applicator. So what you'll do is you'll take the applicator and just put one, two drops, into your hand, and you'll apply it onto the forehead, the nose, the cheeks and the chin. And this particular product is a skin brightener, and a dark spot lightener. So, you apply it all over your whole face. Now some products you just apply on to the actual dark mark. But what's great about this product is that you apply it all over the face. So it will brighten the dark marks, and it will also overall give your skin a natural radiance, and restore health to the skin. The kojic acid is incredible because it helps to lighten pigmentation naturally, and that's really difficult to do. But it kind of gets in the way of the melanin production, so it halts future melanin production, and then it also takes care of the pigmentation that you currently have on the surface of the skin. Pigmentation can be caused by a breakout that we've had, and it will create the injury, the breakout will create an injury on the skin, and that will leave the pigmentation. Also, you know, depending on where you've grown up, and how much time you've spent in the sun, we can have pigmentation from the sun as well. Sun damage. And so, ingredients like this, kojic acid, glycolic acid, natural brighteners, vitamin C as well, are going to brighten and lighten that sun damage, that unfortunately we have due to spending too much time in the sun, or not protecting our skin in the sun. One thing to keep in mind whenever using a skin brightener or a skin lightener that has a kojic acid or it has any kind of ingredient, like vitamin C, that is going to brighten the complexion, or exfoliate the complexion, you always want to make sure to follow with a sunscreen. That's really important during the day. Anytime you're using a brightening product, definitely use a sunscreen on top of that product, and make sure to reapply it throughout the day as well. And one last thing, you know, I love that this is a serum. And when you have very active ingredients that you really want to get the job done, you want them to brighten that pigmentation. A serum will go deeper into the skin cells. So it will penetrate deeper, and really help to not only improve the dark pigmentation that might be on the surface of the skin, but it will help to combat any of the pigmentation that might be coming up behind it. Alright, so you can see, the serum has left Coleen's skin really beautiful. Now, when you are working with a brightening product, you have to have a little big of patience. It does take time, especially when you're using natural ingredients, like a kojic acid. So, just have a little bit of patience, but within, I would say just a couple week's time, you will notice an incredible difference in your skin, and your skin will be gorgeous and will have a glow to it. And there you go, that is how to brighten dark marks left over by blemishes. I'm Tracy O'Connor, thanks for watching.
