- Hi I'm beauty expert, Tracy O'Connor and today I'm going to show you how to reduce excess oil in the skin. So first off, how do you know if you have oily skin? I'm going to show you a really easy way to figure that out. On our gorgeous model, Ashlyn, I'm going to go ahead and place the oil blotting paper right here in the center of her forehead and look at that, you can see immediately we have some excess oil here. So I know for sure that Ashlyn has a little bit of an oily forehead, placing it right here on the cheek and the oil is coming up there as well but not quite as much as on the forehead and now we're going to go ahead and test this area of her face and we have some oil coming up there as well. So, we have determined that Ashlyn has oily skin and that's an easy simple way for you at home to do it as well. So, how do we get rid of that excess oil but also maintain a healthy balanced complexion? I'm going to show you how. So I recommend an oil free moisturizer. Today on Ashlyn we're going to use the Ultra Facial Oil Free Lotion by Kiehl's. This is a fantastic lightweight formula that is perfect for all day. It will deliver hydration, water into the skin without delivering extra oil. Obviously for somebody like Ashlyn, maybe you at home if you have oily skin, you have enough oil so we don't need oil in the skin. What we look for is hydration and nourishment for the skin. We don't need a lot of product, just about that much, under a dime size amount and we're going to warm up the product in our fingertips and apply to the four parts of the face, the forehead, the cheeks, the nose and the chin. Alright now when you're applying, you want your moisturizer to readily absorb into the skin. If you have oily skin, you don't want something heavy, you want to choose something that's lightweight. Okay so I'm just gently tapping the product into the skin, be aware not to go too high above your orbital bone. You want to use that as a guide when you're applying your moisturizer. That way the product doesn't migrate into the eye area and create sensitivity or even irritation. Now when you have oily skin, frequently other issues arise. Sometimes we have enlarged pores or very congested skin. You can even get more prone to breakout. If you do struggle with those additional elements that often come with oily skin be aware to also incorporate a toner into your regimen. I think an alcohol free gentle toner will help to further clear away some of the debris that's in the pore in addition to creating a very natural pH balance. I also notice in women who exercise and drink a lot of water that their skin is less oily and they are less prone to breakouts and they have a more balanced natural state of their skin. Two tips, one use an oil free foundation as well or perhaps a mineral makeup. I think those are great choices and solutions if you have oily skin. You certainly don't want to choose a foundation with excess oil. Another great tip if you have oily skin, use a clay mask one to two times a week. I personally love kaolin clay. It's gentle, it won't dehydrate the skin but it will create a balanced complexion. So we've just finished applying the product to Ashlyn's skin and her skin feels great. The product, it's not, it doesn't feel oily at all. The product is readily absorbed right into her skin. She has kind of a balanced natural glow. That's what you're looking for. You're not looking for an oil slick but we want kind of a radiance, a natural radiance. The desert proteins in this product help to retain moisture so throughout the day you'll have healthy hydration without oil. Okay, there you go, that's how to reduce excess oil in the skin. I'm Tracy O'Connor. Thanks for watching.
