Hi, I'm Kendra Richards, professional makeup artist, and today I'm going to talk to you about the best makeup primers. Makeup primers are used after moisturizer and they help to perfect the skin and prepare it for foundation. The best ones will minimize pores even out your skin and help the foundation to last longer. So one of my favorite makeup primers is La Base Pro by Lancome. I like to apply it with a foundation brush that's synthetic and so I start at the center of her forehead and sweep out. I'm using just a little bit. This helps even out the skin on her forehead there and you'll see that this primer has no coverage. It's clear and what it's really doing is preparing the skin for the foundation. It's perfecting the skin, evening out any imperfections in the skin. It will minimize your pores. If you have wrinkles, it will help fill that out as well so you have a smoother canvas for the foundation and then a makeup primer will help to extend the wear of your foundation throughout the day. This will also diffuse the light for a more perfect finish. It's really an essential step to getting the best foundation look. I'll always use one, red carpet, on stage, no matter who it is I'm working with I start with a primer. So now that I've applied the primer, I'm going to apply foundation and I'm going to start with one pump, just getting as little foundation as necessary on to her face. I can always build coverage, starting out with the areas of a little bit of redness. You know I can really feel how this foundation is gliding onto Leah's face and one of the great things too about a primer is it allows me to use less foundation. It's not getting completely absorbed into the skin so I've got that beautiful canvas. You know because a primer creates a barrier and the foundation isn't settling into pores, it maintains it throughout the day. What it does is really helps the makeup not to settle into the fine lines or pores. You can really see how radiant Leah's skin is and this is because of the proper preparation before the foundation which is the makeup primer. So there you go, that's how to choose the best foundation primer. I'm Kendra Richards. Thanks for watching.
