- Hi, I'm Kendra Richards, professional makeup artist, and today I'm going to show you how to put on perfect eye shadow. My go to technique for perfect eye shadow is beginning with an eye shadow primer. And then choosing a palette that makes it easy for you. So I'm going to begin the look by using the eye shadow base Aquatique by Lancome. And I'm going to warm the product up on my hand just a touch. And then apply it directly to her eyelid. This will cancel out any darkness she has on her eyelid and any uneven skin tone to give me the perfect canvas to apply eye shadow to. This eye shadow base is perfect because it's waterproof and it prevents creasing. So now that I have the eye shadow base on I'm going to begin with the eye shadow. I'm going to use three colors to demonstrate the gradation that I had mentioned earlier. I'm going to start at the base of the lashes with this darkest color. I'm going to just glide that along the edge. And blend up just a touch. And this extra eye shadow why we'll wipe that away in a little bit. And then go ahead and start with the next color. The medium shade goes right above that darkest shade. So a great tip to keep in mind I always begin doing makeup with the eyes and then I clean up any fallout like this and do a foundation over it. That way you get the cleanest effect when you are working. And now I'm going to take this lighter shade and that's going to go right above the second medium tone color that I've put on. I'm taking that all the way up right under the brow bone. And I'm going to carry it just into the center of the eye like that. Now what I'm going to do after that my final step is to go ahead and really make sure to blend so that it's a seamless transition. So I'm going to clean off my brush a little on my hand and then I'm going to just start from the bottom and blend up. And you want to blend from the darker colors up not down. And then you want to blend from the darker colors up. This gradation technique applies to any skin color, any eye shadow palette that you are using. It's a very easy way to ensure that you are getting a beautiful result. It's a very easy technique to use. All makeup artist use it and it gives you a very sophisticated look. So you can see how beautiful Javianna's eye shadow looks. And you can see the palette here how true those colors are to the palette. I was able to achieve this because I used an eye shadow primer first. Well there you go. That's how to put on perfect eye makeup. I'm Kendra Richards thanks for watching.
