- Hi my name is Hilda Levierge and I'm a professional makeup artist. Today I'm going to teach you how to apply lip liner for a nighttime look. So for Liz's night time look I'm going to be using Maybelline Color Sensational Lip Liner in Raisin. So when you are applying a lip liner I usually like to prep the lips first with a little bit of lip balm. And we've already done that with Liz's lips. So I'm going to start in the middle of the upper lip just so they keep it's bow and start to just gently trace the line of her lip. And then come down and just work into the middle here. And lip liner is really important because it creates a little base for your lipstick. And it will help the lipstick to stay put instead of feathering. Sometimes people will find that their lipstick will start to feather into the cracks just above your lips. So if you wear lip liner that's going to prevent that from happening. It also helps the lipstick to stay on longer and intensify the color if you use the lip liner to fill in your entire lip which is what I'm going to do here on Liz. I also think it's great because if you are you know at a party or out to dinner and you are eating, you don't have to worry about your lipstick fading off and just having that dreaded lip liner line which never looks good. If you do want to make your lips appear to be fuller you can concentrate the product just under the Cupid's bow. So put a little extra right there and just bring it down just a little bit. Not all the way down. Start on the other side. Just half way down. And then just take it and just take the bottom of the lower lip. Just concentrate a little bit more right there. And that's going to create kind of a contour and an optical illusion of a fuller lip. So that looks beautiful just as it is but I'm going to finish the look off with a lipstick. So you can apply it directly from the tube or just with a brush. Your lip liner should be pretty much the same color as the lipstick that you are choosing. You could opt for one shade darker. So there you have it that is the easiest way to apply a lip liner to get a great evening look. Thanks for watching. I'm Hilda Levierge.
