- Hi my name is Hilda Levierge and I'm a professional makeup artist. Today I'm going to show you what neutral eye shadows to wear if you have fair skin. If you have fair skin, finding the proper neutral eye shadow for you can be a little tricky. You want to make sure that you don't have anything that's going to overpower you or it can also wash you out if you have the wrong color. You also want to keep in mind your undertones of your skin. So your undertones can be easily found. You're either a cool or a warm, some people can do both, cool and warm. So Allie looks to me like she can do both, either cool, grays would be nice, maybe a light lilac, you could also do warm colors like a gold or brown or taupe. So the best way to find your skin's undertone is to actually look on the inside of your arm at your veins. Now if you have a cool undertone the veins are going to appear more bluish in color. If you have a warm undertone, they're going to appear more of a greenish color. Another way to determine your skin tone is to decide what you look better in. Do you look better in gold or silver jewelry? Silver is cool, gold is warm. So on Allie today I'm going to be using Maybelline Expertwear Eye Shadow Trio and the color I chose is called bronze haze. So the color that I chose for Allie today is called bronze haze and I love this because it's a very neutral palette and it also has some nice shimmery bronze and gold in it so that's going to be beautiful for Allie. She is more of a warm. She could also do the cool tones as well so if you do have more of a cool tone to your skin, gray is really really flattering if you have fair skin. So our first step is to take the lightest color here which is a nice shimmery gold. I'm going to tap off the excess product from my brush and I'm going to go across the entire lid. So I'm going to start right at the root of the eyelashes and go all the way up to right under the eyebrow and that's going to just really illuminate the eyelid and it's going to mask any sort of skin discoloration. You can also prep your eyelid with a little bit of concealer to begin with but Allie doesn't really have any discoloration on her lids. So I'm going to go right to the shadow and just put that across the entire lid all the way up to just under the brow. This is going to attract the light and just give her a beautiful luminosity to the eyelid. Our next step is to take this medium color which is a beautiful coppery gold and I'm going to contour Allie's eye just right here, right in the contour and a good way to find the contour of your eye is to just lift your chin up and just look down your nose, down to the tip of your nose and you're going to see the entire lid and you're going to see where the bone actually pokes out and the eyelid recedes a little bit and that recessed part is the contour, your crease and that's what you want to add a little bit of definition to. So when you have fair skin and you want to go for a neutral color you just want to make sure that it's lightly applied so that it doesn't overpower your face. I'm going to take a little bit more of that highlighter which is the lightest color and just put it right under the brow bone just for a nice little highlight right there. You can also take this color and go right into your tear duct, just go, just a little dot right there and that's going to attract the light and really wake up your eyes, beautiful. Now our last step is to take the darkest color and I'm going to use a flat eyeliner brush and I'm just going to give Allie a little bit more definition by doing a liner, just lift your brow up and then I like to start kind of in the middle, I find that easiest for me and then just do little strokes across the entire lid right at the root of the lashes. It's really important to get really close to the lash line and just do little strokes, just right out to the outer corner. Using a shadow as a liner is going to be really nice and soft and give you just a little bit of a smoldering effect instead of a harsh line and you have to be careful when your skin is fair because too much makeup or any sort of harshness can just really overpower your face. You just want to enhance your eyes and show off their shape and their color so you want to use colors that are going to be flattering so determining whether you're more of a cool tone or a warm tone is really important, just like that and then you can even take that same liner and what I like to do to kind of soften the effect because I'm going to go underneath to the lower lashes, I'm going to take the darkest one and the medium one and just mix them, just like that. I'm going to tap off the excess and just look up for me, and I'm just going to wiggle the brush right into the lower lash line and I'm kind of concentrating on the outer corners of the eye, that's going to give the optical illusion of more of a wide eyed look. And then just with the excess powder on my brush I'm just going to kind of blend it in so that there's no harsh lines, I'm just going to blend it in to the tear duct, gorgeous. So there you go, those are the best neutral eye shadows to wear if you have fair skin. Thanks for watching, I'm Hilda Levierge.
