- Hi, I'm celebrity makeup artist, Chantal Moore, and today I'm going to show you how to prevent makeup from settling into your pores. The most important first step is the formula that you choose. So you want to make sure that you find a foundation that is specifically formulated for not clogging pores and it actually diminishes fine lines as opposed to accentuating them. Today I'm using Smooth Indulgence Foundation by Dermablend and I have a little bit of the product on my hand here and you're going to see it's super creamy. This foundation is specifically formulated to not settle into the pores. It's actually formulated to diminish the appearance of fine lines and imperfections in the skin, so when you start off with coverage like this, you can pretty much hope to guarantee that you're not going to be accentuating any large pores or fine lines. You can absolutely use a sponge. A lot of ladies like to use a sponge or a brush, whatever you're most comfortable with and you're just going over the skin, just smoothing this over really really lightly. Think of it as a light veil of coverage and you just want to smooth it all over the surface of the skin, highlighting any areas of specific discoloration that you would like to blend out and once you do that, once you have a nice smooth light application and just tap the product into the skin using your ring finger and just really focusing on smoothing this out, tapping the foundation into the skin with your fingers will just enhance the appearance of a smooth application. It works the product into the pores in a good way and it just gives that overall appearance of just flawless skin as opposed to foundation or makeup coverage, working it into the skin this way just enhances and ensures that it just looks like flawless skin. My final tip for preventing makeup from settling into pores is to do a light dusting of a translucent powder over your foundation coverage work and really really light. You don't need a lot of powder at all. You just really want to set the coverage that you did earlier. So just going over the face very lightly and it just takes down a little bit of the shine and it just sets all of that and again you don't need a lot of powder, just a light dusting all over the face, specifically hitting any areas that you focus some concealer foundation work on and this is just going to set all of that work that you did. And that's how you prevent makeup from settling into pores. I'm celebrity makeup artist, Chantal Moore. Thank you for joining.
