Hello, I'm Spencer Barnes, celebrity makeup artist. Today, I'm going to show you how to do makeup for a semi formal. fro semi-formals, I like to really focus on the eyes. For evening events, it's nice to be able to pump up the colors and the intensity a little more, than you would in the day time. Keeping in mind that an eye makeup or face makeup in a dimmer light can look beautiful. And also, that makeup for photos needs to last and look appropriate. To achieve this look, I'm going to use Eye Studio Color Pearls by Maybelline. First, I'm going to use a beautiful, neutral shade, right across the lid of the eye. And you'll notice, this shadow has really beautiful, kind of light reflecting particles that attract the light at different angles. Definitely a great quality for a night time eyeshadow. Before I go into the second eyeshadow, I'm going to use a nice, deep, jet black liner to smudge right into the lash line. This will first of all, define the lash line and second of all, give me a base for the color to blend into. So, I'll start by applying the liner from the inner corner to the outer part of the eye. Making it a little bit thicker as I go, and extending outward and upward. This gives me a perfect base to build upon. When I bring in the shadow, and I'm going to smolder it right into the, smudge it right into this pencil, bringing a nice, nice, deep, rich color at the lash line. I'm going to use gentle tapping motions, to deposit the color right into the pencil, keeping it closer to the lash line. If you want to go a little darker, you can come back with a little more liner, and repeat the step, adding a little more product. Often when doing the smoky eye, you'll notice, particles of shadow or mascara may fall down under the eyes, creating a little bit of mess. Don't worry, it's good to clean that up, we'll get to that in a minute. And then, to do the face makeup after that. Now, before we finish, one of the most important steps will be, to line the eye with a nice water-resistant pencil. So, I'll have Eden look down towards the floor. And I'll gently lift her eye and color this inside wet part of the eye, look this way, perfect. This will give you a nice, rich, black, crisp eye line, very important when you do a smoky eye. If you forget this step, step, often the eye will look just kind of dirty. This will give you a beautiful, clean, defined lash line. And that is how to do makeup for a semi formal. I'm Spencer Barnes and thank you for joining me.
