- Hi, my name is Taylor Babaian. I'm a celebrity makeup artist and today I'm going to show you makeup colors for auburn hair. So when choosing makeup colors for auburn hair you want to choose colors that are not so warm. Stay away from anything that has a little bit too much orange or brown undertones. Instead look for colors that have a little bit more mauve or pink undertones. Okay so we're going to start with foundation and for that I'm going to use L'Oreal Paris True Match Foundation. So Colleen has fair skin which is actually quite normal for auburn hair and it's generally paired with some freckles, sometimes light or dark. Colleen has kind of lighter freckles. So if you have heavier freckles you want to choose a foundation color that's kind of in between your fair skin as well as your freckles. for Colleen she does have a fairer face than her shoulders so what I'm going to do is I'm going to warm up her skin just a little bit just so that it doesn't look so pale and the way I'm doing that is I'm actually applying foundation just to the cheek area. We've already primed her skin so now we're just applying this warmer foundation kind of like where the sun would hit you, just around the forehead, we want to make it look natural, contouring her face and then you can kind of blend it up into the rest of the face, just blend it down in here. The idea is to make sure that your foundation doesn't make you look any wider. So a lot of times if you are thinking about you know, wearing makeup colors and the reason I say to stay away from anything that has a little bit too much orange or brown undertones is one, they'll match the freckles and the hair too much so you'll look very monochromatic. It can also make freckles look dingy and we don't want that. You want your makeup to look fresh. If you want something a little bit warm, make sure that it has some sort of pink undertone. Mauves are great for that and you can kind of blend that into the neck. So for the concealer, if you have a little bit of more like purple undertones in your eye area it's going to help to conceal that. Sometimes freckles are uneven and you'll have that one dark freckle it's great for that. If you have tiny little freckles everywhere I think that still looks beautiful and you could allow some of it to look kind of peek through but sometimes when it's just that one freckle it looks a little odd. So concealer is great to cancel that out. So when I'm applying concealer or my second layer of foundation I kind of just like to tap it on and the reason for that is if you already have your first layer of foundation on, you don't want to swipe it down because it's going to remove your first application. So my second application whether it be concealer or my second layer of foundation, I always just kind of tap it on. So I'm going to set Colleen's foundation really quickly just applying a little bit of powder. And when you're choosing your powder you want to go a shade lighter than your foundation color just because sometimes when powders get wet they turn a little bit darker. So once I've set the foundation with a little bit of powder, now I'm going to do my blush application and as you can see this little pale pink looks so pretty against her skin tone, choosing a color that's too brown is going to really make her look monochromatic and it's not going to add any freshness. So we're just going to take a little bit of blush. I like how it has that light shimmer, and keep smiling for me, just right here at the apples of the cheeks. So again the reason I'm using this pale pink as opposed to a peach or a coral which a lot of people might tend to do because you know you think that there is peach undertones in the skin but again it's not going to add the freshness that the pink is going to add. So as you can see we've finished applying our beautiful pink blush on her and you can see that it just adds warmth to her face. She doesn't look too pale. She looks nice and fresh. So there you go, some makeup colors for auburn hair. I'm Taylor Babaian. Thanks for watching.
