- Hi I'm Jhizet Panosian, celebrity makeup artist, and today I'm going to give you a few makeup tips for redheads. So as you can see with Emily, she has really pretty fair skin with a little bit of freckles over the ridge of the nose. That's really common with redheads but instead of using harsh concealers we actually want to feature her freckles and use a little bit of a primer with a hint of foundation just to diffuse and even out her tone a little bit. So on Emily today I'm going to use L'Oreal Paris Visible Lift Liquid Foundation. So my little trick is to use a little bit of primer and mix it with a few drops of foundation so instead of giving it a really heavy coverage, we're going to give it just a veil. So to start I'm going to use a little bit of primer on the back of my hand and I'm using a greenish primer because it will really even out the red in her skin and you want to start with just a drop of foundation. You can maybe add a little bit more but again remember we're going for a very light veil coverage. We really just want to diffuse her freckles and not really cover them up because they're so pretty. I'm going to use a foundation brush just to load the product onto the brush and you want to start with the center of the skin and just buff it out. And again we don't want to conceal her freckles, we just want to diffuse them so there's a nice evenness on the skin. Generally people have a concentrated amount of freckles around the ridge of the nose and underneath the eyes so really make sure you get that area covered. There's usually a lot of redness around the nose too so you really want to work that primer since it is going to neutralize the red and even out your skin tone. Make sure you get the eyelids as well because generally a lot of redheads have a lot of pinks and purples on their eyelids and you want to make sure to neutralize that and give yourself a nice canvas if you're going to apply eye shadows or powders or anything. So as you can see we finished her look with very light coverage of her freckles and really diffused them a little bit and I've gone through and really brought a little bit of warmth back to her skin with a little light bronzer right around the edges of the face. And I always recommend with redheads to finish the look with just a little bit of color on the cheeks to really bring in a little bit of warmth and I really like a light pink, soft finish to the cheeks just to bring in a little bit of color and warmth. For redheads especially if you have fair skin and most redheads do, I really recommend pinks and apricots and peaches. Don't be afraid of color, since your skin is really fair, you have the opportunity to really play with color. And there you go, a few makeup tips for redheads.
