- Hi, I'm Carla Kay, Celebrity Manicurist. Today, I'm going to show you how to make your manicure last longer. So, there's two tips to making sure your nail polish doesn't chip. The first is choosing a non-chip topcoat and the second is by capping off the edge of the nail; this will avoid the nails from chipping. So, to get started, I'm going to use No Chips Ahead by Essie. So, I'm going to apply a topcoat; I recommend never shaking the topcoat because this could actually formulate bubbles in the topcoat. So, I'm doing long even strokes. I'm making sure I'm getting the sidewalls and I'm capping off the top of the nail 'cause this will avoid the nail polish from chipping. So, in choosing a topcoat like this, it's actually going to preserve the manicure, keep a high shine and avoid chips for a longer lasting manicure. So, with this topcoat, you're going to get a longer lasting wear. You're not going to get cracking or chipping or any bubbles after your nail polish has dried. This topcoat actually has a fading protection to it, so you're going to actually have the long shiny look. One important tip I have to avoid bubbles and dry nail polish, you need to prep your nails before you apply the color coats. Make sure you get all the oily residue off. A tip that I have, just wash your hands off with soap and water; make sure you dry your nail beds properly, then start to apply your nail polish. This will definitely help avoid nail bubbles in your nail polish. Another tip I have, if you're using the aerosol spray, the quick dry spray for your nails, don't go too close to the hand. This will prevent from getting the air bubbles in your nail polish as well. And that's how to make a manicure lasts longer. I'm Carla Kay, thanks for watching.
